Kathmandu- The song “Naatu Naatu” from the worldwide popular movie “RRR” must have inspired the Academy to put on their dance shoes since the song was nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar on Tuesday morning. It is the first song from an entirely Indian film to receive this honor.
It won’t be the first song composed by Indian songwriters to win an Oscar if “Naatu Naatu” wins. The first time that happened was at the 2019 Oscars, when “Jai Ho,” from the movie “Slumdog Millionaire,” which won best picture that year, triumphed, giving composer A.R. Rahman a double win by also taking home best score. Even though it was set in India, “Slumdog” was a British production.
