Monkey Temple is one of the most popular alternative rock bands in Nepal. Officially the band formed in 1998, but the band was originally formed in the corridors of St. Xavier’s School, Kathmandu.

The band released of their first full-length album “Black Bee and the Flower” in 2002, which helped them win a niche of supporters and create a unique identity in Kathmandu’s rock music scene.  The band is mostly categorized as an alternative rock outfit.

In the year 2012, the band reached some remarkable milestones following the release of their second studio album “Shades of Grey”. Even the band became the first ever Nepali band to have one of their music videos (for their song titled ‘Anumati’) air played on MTV South Asia.The band has awarded for the song “Anumati” in ‘Best Rock Composition’ category in the beginning of 2013 from HITS FM.

A current lineup of the band consists of:
Sareen Deoja – vocals/Guitar,
Dipesh Shrestha – Guitars/back vocals,
Jenish Maharjan – Bass
Pratap Risal – Drums

Through their ever-growing fan base and popularity, the band has been experiencing an increasing demand for their live performances in abroad. Recently, this band has performed for the first in UK.
