Nepal Bhasa is the native language of Newars. Newars are the people from diverse community of Sino-Tibetan, ASI and ANI origin. The language plays a central unifying role in the existence and perpetuation of the Newar community. The poet Siddhidas Mahaju concluded that the Newar community and its rich culture can only survive if the Newar language survives.

Newari songs are the folk songs rich with traditional music. Although Newari songs are very famous in Nepal, most of the people don’t listen to it because it’s hard to understand. But Newari songs grew with incorporation of folk music of Kathmandu valley and its peripheries.

Here’s a stylish Newari song titled “Jim Bajyaa” by ‘Rajesh Shahi’ and’ ‘Kishor Kumar Shahi’. In Nepali language, Jim Bajyaa means ‘Mero Baaje’ which represents about his grandfather. Watch it out!
